This image of M27 ("Dumbbell Nebula") was taken at f10 with a ST-6 CCD camera.
M27 is generally considered the most conspicuous planetary nebula in the entire sky for small instruments. M27 was discovered by Charles Messier in July 1764. It was record on his chart of comets of 1779. William Herschel thought it possibly "a double stratum of stars of a very great extent, one end of which is turned toward us". In all this is one you will injoy viewing even in a small telescope.
