WAM President: Scott Stringham

I was born in Tulsa, OK, but grew up in Montana and California. My first experience with building model airplanes was around age 14 with a CG shoestring stunter. After that I was hooked on the hobby and wanted to fly RC ever sense. At age 19 I moved to Utah where I built my first RC plane. I currently work as a welder. I have always enjoyed anything fast and like new challenges.
Thanks: Scott Stringham

WAM Vice President: Sam Ramsay
(70K bytes)
I am married with 5 children and 2 grandchildren. I started jumping from airplanes in 1975 and then became an advanced rated hang glider pilot in 1976. I later worked as an instructor for an ultralight aircraft dealer during college and joined the Air Force following graduation. I spent my first 8 years on active duty flying B-52's and after leaving active duty was picked up by the Utah Air National Guard where I now fly KC-135's and command the Operations Group of the 151st Air Refueling Wing. I have flown for the US Forest Service and Delta Airlines and have a commercial glider rating. I started flying RC aircraft during pilot training and after a 15 year hiatus got into it again with gliders. During a visit to the WAM field 2 years ago, a member let me try his gas plane and I have been hooked ever since. Although I enjoy the flying, but it's the friends we make at the field that make this such a great club.
Thanks: Sam Ramsay

Roland (Rollie) Lyford, I was born in 53 and grew up in maine, I owned and flew a piper colt my first airplane and I then went to a piper cherokee and I have flown and landed in every airport in maine usually with a few guys for breckfast or brunch but I have always wanted to fly rc airplanes but it was not a popular hobby in maine, must have been the cold, it is something that I have wanted to do forever and when I came to utah several years ago the first thing I seen was a field and planes above at south davis, the next day I joined the club and have been flying since.
