Wasatch Aero Modelers
Flying Facility and Club History
We have a printable map showing where our flying Facility is located in Syracuse, Utah.
We also have a printable layout of our Flying Facility.
Here are some photo images of our flying Facility.
In 1987 about 38 model aircraft hobbyists formed the Wasatch Aero Modelers (WAM) club, and the clubs first flying field was established in West Clinton Utah. The club was established as Charter Club #1350 of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) in 1987, and is Incorporated as a Nonprofit Organization.
The WAM club's flying field has been displaced two times early in the clubs life, but our final landing place is much larger and is growing and developing into a very nice flying facility, that Encompasses Ten acres of Land with parking, model pit areas and pilot RC stations on the East and West sides of the runway, for morning and evening flying, so the sun will be to the pilots back.
The WAM flying facility is only about three miles West of the (I-15) Freeway in the City of Syracuse Utah which gives our members a very nice model aircraft flying facility within thier community to enjoy the wonderful hobby of model aircraft flying with only a short distance to drive.
The WAM club is a No Frills type of model aircraft club that is a family oriented non profit type of origination committed to the advancement of the model aircraft hobby.
Unfortunately the WAM club is set up for R/C type of model aircraft only, being so close to the Great Salt Lake we are unable to fly free-flight type of models.
The clubs membership has been very stable with a yearly membership average of One Hundred and Twenty Five Pilot members, flying the following type of model aircraft, RC Electric power, RC Gas power, and RC Sailplanes, with many funfly and field trip type of events held each year.
